DMCH to launch health programme for 
rural masses

Ludhiana, May 17
Dayanand Medical College and Hospital has decided to extend its health services to rural masses. To achieve this aim, the hospital will launch a programme ‘Good Health for All’.

Under this programme, the DMCH will organise special medical and surgical camps in villages and separate units will be started in the hospital where people from weaker sections of society and rural background will be treated at subsidised charges.

Dr Sandeep Puri, Medical Superintendent, DMCH, in a press note here today said the first surgical camp would be held in Government Senior Secondary School, Pakhowal village, on May 19.

A team of doctors, including Dr M.L. Gupta, Dr Jasdeep Singh, Dr Sanjiv Singla and Dr Naveen Bansal (Department of Surgery), Dr Dinesh Jain, Dr Harmeet Singh and Dr Naveen Mittal (Department of Medicine), Dr B.K. Gill, Dr Sunil Juneja, Dr Vinita Aggarwal, Dr Ashima Taneja and Dr Anita Jain (Department of Gynaecology), Dr Vanita Chopra (Department of ENT), Dr Monisha Gupta, Dr Shikha Aggarwal and Dr Manisha Chopra (Department of Skin), along with other doctors, would examine patients. Such camps would be held after every 15 days.

Special units would be started in the above mentioned departments for the poor patients. Patients requiring minor surgery would be charged Rs 3,000 and those requiring major operations would be charged Rs 7,000, including admission charges, bed charges and charges of required clinical tests, he said.

IMA hails victory

The Ludhiana chapter of the Indian Medical Association has hailed the victory of Dr P.V. George and Dr Sanjiv Malik as president and honorary general secretary, respectively, of the association, for which the elections were held today. According to Dr Gursharan Singh, a meeting of the IMA Ludhiana executive was held here today, which congratulated the new office-bearers, who were voted to office by an overwhelming majority. He said the IMA Ludhiana had supported both Mr George and Mr Malik as they were the nominees of Dr Ketan Desai.

Shooting meet

The Ludhiana District Rifle Association (LDRA) will organise the third Clay Pigeon Shooting Championship at Khokhran village, near Machhiwara, Ludhiana, on May 26.

The competition will start at 7.30 am, according to a press note issued by Mr Gurinder Singh Garcha, general secretary, LDRA. Entries will be accepted on the spot and for further enquiries Mr G.S. Garcha and Mr N.S. Bhogal, vice-president, LDRA, may be contacted at phone Nos 431964 and 304093, respectively.
