I wish I were

I wish I were the first on moon,

It would have surely been a boon.

I wonder how I would have felt,

In a place where there was no air.

I wish I were a cricketer,

Hitting each ball to a sixer,

Would get appreciation by all,

After the team had won.

Oh, I am happy with myself,

Because I realize God has made,

Me with so much care and charm,

It’s true — grass always seems to be greener on the other side.

So I am happy and will do something,

Great which brings pleasure to me.

Dreams

Sweet dreams in the starry nights,

Flashing through the sleeping eyes.

Dew drops on the petals of love,

Flying messages on the wings of a dove.

Swinging high with the colours of rainbow,

Crossing the peaks clad with snow.

Fragrance of happiness, mist in the air,

Enamouring the souls, bringing them near.

Angel kiss of mother, sweeter than sugar,

On the baby’s skin as soft as feather.

Playing in harmony wiping off hatred,

Wish nobody breaks dreams so sacred.

— Sameep Gill, Class XII,
Sacred Heart Convent School, Ludhiana

Life

Live your life and live it long,

And end it like a merry song.

For everyone has to come and go.

So, try all things and never say no.

This world is full of laughter and love.

Try to be as gentle as dove.

You’ll find life very easy,

Although it will be a little busy!

The most beautiful gift is life,

Fools are those who end it in a strife.
