Youth left to nurse his crushed leg outside Faridabad, April 21 Soon after the accident, he was first taken to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. However, the doctors there told him that his leg would have to be amputated and it would cost Rs 5,000. The authorities there developed cold feet when he told them that he had no money, he said. Somehow he reached a cousin brother’s house who took him to Badarpur and fled after leaving him under a tree. Poor Dharamvir then reached his village where other villagers decided to take him to Bhadshah Khan Civil Hospital here. The doctors here advised him to go to Safdarjung Hospital and did not “admit” him despite his requests, he said. While the hospital authorities have “thrown him out”, the villagers have also gone back leaving him lying helpless in the park outside the hospital. The condition of his injured leg has deteriorated with the nearby areas of the wound getting infected. Even as the poor patient has been lying outside till filing of this report, it is learnt that the doctors of the hospital have taken up the matter with their seniors. |
Blood donation camps by Nirankari Mission New Delhi, April 21 The head of the Sant Niarankari Mission, Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj, today inaugurated the series in the Capital along with his wife, Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji, who was one among the first donors. The camp today had a target of around 1000 units of blood but due to the overwhelming presence of the Nirankari’s, many were asked to come latter. However, the sense of devotion and service to humanity that guided the blood donors, was appreciated by the Nirankari’s. He said that the gesture was all the more praise-worthy in the context of rising hatred and bloodshed in the country. The German Ambassador to India, Hans-Joachim Kidalen, who was also present at the camp, was impressed by the spirit of donors. The blood donation camp, which was organized in close co-ordination with the Indian Red Cross Society, has been organized since 1986. Since 1997, these camps have been associated with the Manav Ekta Diwas (Human Unity Day), observed on April 24. The social objective is inspired by the former spiritual head of the mission, Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji. The Sant Nirankari Mission has been overwhelmed by the response of the volunteers. |
