NCC Club, Riat Club in last 4

The Riat Club trounced the Junior Friends Club by 9 wickets while the NCC Club defeated the Rana Club by 4 wickets to secure their berths in the semifinals of the ninth Veera Devi Memorial Cricket Tournament being played at the GGN Khalsa College ground here today.

Brief scores: Rana Club — 169 for 7 (Sanjeev 32, Paramjit 43, Raman Pandey 23, Binder 1 for 26, Bobby 2 for 20, Davinder 1 for 28, Goldy 1 for 23.) NCC Club — 176 rot 6 (Sukhpal 68, Sona 13 n.o., Raja 29, Jagbir 3 for 17, Sanjay 2 for 43 and R. Dev 1 for 28). Junior Friends Club — 72 all out ( Rakesh Saini 5 for 10, Kuldip 2 for 21, Varinder 1 for 19 and Davinder Riat 1 for 14). Riat Club — 74 for 1 (Joga Singh 28 not out, Anil Danny 15, Anil Singla 19 not out and Jagga 1 for 23).

Jr b’ball teams: The following have been selected to represent Ludhiana in the 53rd Punjab State Junior Basketball Championship scheduled to be held at Tarn Taran from April 21 to 25:

Girls- Rekha Bedi, Taranjit Kaur, Rajni Bedi, Jaswinder Kaur, Manju, Namrata, Harpreet Kaur, Rajni, Preeti, Manglesh, Gagandeep Kaur and Parminder Kaur.

Boys: Amit Prashar, Snehpal Singh, Fatehjit Singh, Vinod Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Karanvir Singh, Ramesh Kumar, Sumer Singh, Harpreet Singh, Ayub Thakur, Ivjot Singh Litt and Gagan Madan.
