Minoo Masani
Ranga

FORMER President of the Swatantra Party and author of many books, Minoo Masani was in Delhi some years back to meet his friends and to interact with leaders of different shades of political thinking. He had his education at Eton and was close to the Nehru family despite his differences with the Congress. He served as India’s Ambassador to Brazil in 1948. Since he was such a colourful personality, Masani was a hit with the public. I felt he should not be ignored and he should be sketched no matter what his reaction. I met him at one of the parties hosted in his honour and after completing the sketch, I went to him and showed it to him. He was very pleased and signed it with a big laugh that lasted for over a minute.
