GNIMT, PTU champs

Ludhiana, April 8
The girls of the Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana, have won gold in the volleyball championship of Punjab Technical University held at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh College of Engineering & Technology, Ferozepore last week.

According to a press note issued by Dr A.S. Bansal, Director, GNIMT, 12 teams from various engineering and management institutes of Punjab Technical University (PTU) participated in the two-day meet held on April 5 and 6. The SBS College of Engineering & Technology, Fatehgarh Sahib, and GTBK Institute of Engineering and Technology, Chapianwali, bagged silver and bronze, respectively.

The GNIMT team had also won the bronze in the Badminton Championship organised by the PTU at the Hansraj Badminton stadium, Jalandhar, recently. Dr B R Ambedkar Regional Engineering College, Jalandhar, had emerged champion while the team from Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa Institute of Engineering and Technology, Chapianwali (Malout), finished runner-up.

Ludhiana u-19 probables: The Ludhiana District Cricket Association conducted trials here yesterday to pick up the probables for the Ludhiana u-19 team under the Punjab Cricket Association Coaching Scheme. After the trials 19 players were shortlisted for the coaching camp commencing at the Arya College for Boys ground, Ludhiana, from April 9. These boys have been asked to report to Mr Rakesh Saini at 4 pm. The probables are: Varun Gupta, Karan Goel, Tavish Gupta, Ashish Vinayak, Jimmy Shankar, Aseem Jindal, Prabhjot Singh Khatra, Rajat Bhatia, Mohit Mangal, Gurpreet Khaira, Karan Puri, H.S. Panesar, Sachin Sharma, Charandip Singh, Preetinder Singh, Ankush Jolly, Amardeep Rana, Gagandeep Singh and Manpreet Singh.
