Vladimir Putin
Ranga

PERHAPS the youngest President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, was in Delhi in October 2000 to further strengthen the relationship between India and Russia. Putin served in the Russian Secret Service (KGB). And has a vast knowledge of his country and countrymen. He had a busy schedule during his short visit to Delhi. Grim in his looks and at the same time alert, Putin paid a visit to Rajghat to pay his homage to the Father of the Nation. He showed interest in the surroundings and as he emerged from the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi, a picture of his was ready to greet him.

He took it and for a moment he wondered what he should do with it. Someone told him in Russian that he was meant to sign it if he like it. He smiled and said "yes" and then affixed his signature over it.
