I was sitting in my home cool and calm, With my loved ones in my arm. Today was a day of celebration, It was the Republic Day. Just then in the ‘midst of joy’ Came the worst curse of nature, Which shocked every being, every creature, The land of Gandhi was hit by an earthquake. It was actually a deathquake. As the people trembled with fear, The land was left in wear and tear, There was chaos all around, With dead bodies laid on the ground. The cries of the people reached my ear As pain for them was difficult to bear. People started cursing their fate, But it was too late. The news spread in the city, But all had nothing to give, just pity. It was a great disaster, Which spread faster and faster, Nature had shown its might, Which created in people a terrible fright. — Pranav Shreedhar, Class IX, DPS,
