Cashless medicare facility at Mukat Hospital

Chandigarh, March 28
The Mukat Hospital and Heart Institute, Sector 34, has tied up with various third party administrators to make the facility of cashless medicare available to thousands of corporate and public sector employees.

The salient feature of this scheme is that the eligible beneficiary and his dependents scan avail of indoor treatment facility without the tension of arranging for funds to meet the treatment expenses in case of medical emergency.

The concept of cashless medicare is very popular and common in developed countries and the same is slowly catching up in India as well. This enables the beneficiaries to get instant medical care as per the requirement without bothering about subsequent bills which will be cleared by the third party administrators on their behalf. Many corporate bodies and PSUs have since tied up with various third party administrators to take care of the healthcare requirements of their employees.

Mukat Hospital is the first healthcare institution to bring this facility to the city and the employees of the Food Corporation of India have become the first beneficiaries of this new scheme. Under the scheme the beneficiaries can obtain instant treatment for all types of illness, including surgical procedures.

Taskeen steals limelight

Chandigarh, March 28
Taskeen Bains stole the limelight today as she clinched two titles in the Chandigarh Hot Weather Tennis Championships here at the CLTA Stadium, Sector 10. Taskeen won the under-14 section by defeating Inayat Khosla while in the under-16 section, she outplayed Alipt Sandhu to bag the title.

Digvijay won the under-10 title after beating Gurinder Singh while in the under-12 section, Vijayant Malik held the forte by defeating Sidharth Singh in the final.

The boys under-14 final will be played between Vijayant and Kinshuk Sharma. In the under-16 section, Izreek and Kinshuk will cross swords with each other. Both these matches will be played on March 30, with under-16 section tie at 8 am while in under-14 section, the final would be played at 4 pm followed by the prize distribution function.

Dart board meet

The First Chandigarh Dart Board Championship in professional and amateur category, for both men and women section, will be held on March 30 at 3 pm at the Lake Club, Sector 6. Those interested may contact Col Madhu Berry, General Manager of the club, till March 29 at 6 pm. The players below 19 years will be eligible for the amateur category while those above19 years would be eligible for the professional category. The first two position holders in both categories will be recommended to the Dart Board Federation of India for the international participation.

Meeting

The annual general meeting of the UT Cricket Association will be held on March 31 at 11 am at the PWD Inspection Bungalow. According to Mr SS Bawa, secretary of the UTCA, the agenda of the meeting include among other points, the passing of calendar for 2002, briefing by Mr Kapil Dev, General Secretary on the latest affiliation position of the UTCA with the BCCI.

MC decides to put its ‘idle’ staff on duty

SAS Nagar, March 28
The SAS Nagar Municipal Council has decided to hand over the job of collecting water and sewerage bills to its staff of the octroi wing. At present, the job is done by the employees of the Public Health Department on behalf of the council.

According to the information available, around 40 employees of the octroi wing, who were sitting idle after the abolition of octroi in December last year, will now be put on the job of distributing and collecting water and sewerage bills. The civic body earns a revenue of around Rs 4 crore from these bills.
