MC demolishes several illegal buildings
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, March 7
It was a busy day for the demolition squad of the Municipal Corporation in the city when more than half a dozen buildings, being constructed in violation of the building bylaws, were demolished in different localities.

The demolition team along with a police posse, descended on various construction sites and razed the portions of several buildings which were in violation of the building bylaws. Specifically, the MC officials came down heavily on those violations, which were either non-compoundable or construction being done without approved building plans.

According to the MC Additional Commissioner, Mr Raminder Singh, three shops in Udham Singh Nagar were partly razed where construction was on to cover the verandah in front of the shops. At Pakhowal Road partial demolition of shops was carried out in Lamba Estate for excess coverage and inclusion of a part of the parking lot in the building.

Similarly, the basement of a commercial complex was ordered to be filled up as it was not part of the approved building plan. The MC team also dismantled shutters and fixtures of a shop which was being carved out from part of a residential house in the Model Town locality.

Mr Raminder Singh maintained that the crackdown on the violators of building bylaws would continue.
