Q. I want to delete temporary Internet files through Tools> Internet options> Delete files. But I am not able to delete these. When I click on Clear History they are deleted. Sometimes they are not deleted by the Clear History option even. Is there any software that doesn't allow them to be deleted? If yes, please tell me the solution. I even upgraded my Internet Explorer to IE-6 but of no use. I regularly perform disk clean up and defragmentation. Secondly, I have a game installed on my PC. It runs very well but I am not able to exit the game (even not by Alt+ Ctrl+ Del). Please tell me the solution. Abhay, Chandigarh A. You can delete temporary Internet files by clicking on Tools>Options. Now from the Internet options window, click delete files. This will delete the temporary Internet files. The Clear history button does not delete the temporary Internet files and only clears the history of previously visited pages. However, by default all files except offline temporary Internet files will be deleted. However, if you want to delete the offline contents also, then you should click on "delete offline content" option also under the delete files option to completely remove these files. This will make the system clean of all temporary Internet files. I guess that your problem was mainly due to non-deletion of offline contents. Moreover, if you wish to delete the temporary Internet files manually, then you can checkout the location of the temporary Internet files by clicking at settings button located adjacent to the delete files button and delete the files from there. Also, you can click on the temp directory and clear the temporary files. Regarding your second problem, please mention the name of the program for the accurate solution. However, generally speaking, you can try pressing Alt+Q or Ctrl+Q for exiting the game. Q. I have a Celeron 1.1 GHz Computer with 256 MB RAM, Vintron motherboard and Motorola SM56 Voice modem with Win '98 Se. My problem is that whenever I try to connect to the Net, it shows SM56 Hardware warning message: "Unable to support country setting. Change country setting to the USA in tray helper application." Please tell me how to get rid of this message. I have checked the modem settings. It already has the USA in country settings. Secondly, how to set the pictures in My Picture folder so that they can be viewed as a slide show. Paras A. The solution to the problem is simple. All you need to do is change the country to CR31 instead of any other country, which you use as default. Since India does not figure in the list of countries, therefore you have this problem. In the manual of the modem, it is clearly written to use this setting for all countries, which do not figure in the list. I hope correcting this small setting would solve the problem. Q. I have system with the following configuration:64 MB RAM, 10 GB Hard Disk, WinMe operating system, Samsung keyboard and LG monitor. Whenever I start the computer, I always get a message before desktop menu appears that 'MS09.DLL file not found.' Then the system works properly. Kindly advise me on how to get rid of this problem. Which software needs this type of file so that I uninstall that software and the problem does not occur in future? Sandeep Kumar, Chandigarh A. It appears that the file mentioned by you is either missing or corrupt. This is a Microsoft Office file and is required for various applications. You can copy this file from the Microsoft office CD and place it in the directory c:\ program files\ microsoft office\ office (if the Microsoft Office was installed on the C drive). Replenishing this file will solve the problem. Q. I own a P-III based computer with Mercury motherboard, 128 MB RAM, 20 GB hard disk, Windows '98. Please solve my problem: 1.Whenever I put my computer on standby mode, it hangs and does not come back even if the mouse is moved. Please tell what should be done? 2.My computer hangs whenever I try to copy something from the floppy disk and has to be restarted from the cabinet. It sometimes hangs after working on MS Office. Please help. 3.I have a few CDs of Sony Playstation. I want to run them on my computer. They can be run only with the help of software such as Bleem on the computer. Please tell some sites from which this software can be downloaded for free. Kunal Mahajan, Chandigarh A. Please load the fail safe BIOS default in the BIOS set up for the possible solution of the problem. This problem sometimes occurs due to wrong power settings under the BIOS setup. Setting them to default would solve the problem. Regarding the second problem, you should clean the floppy drive well with a cleaning floppy as this kind of problem could be due to clogged floppy drives. However, you must also run scandisk in the thorough mode followed by defrag and this will also help in solving the problem. Also in this case loading the fail safe default under the first solution will help in solving your problem. However, if after running scandisk, you find any bad sectors or any other problem on your hard disk, then your problems could be attributed to presence of bad sectors on your hard disk. Q. I have a Compaq Presario 5000 Series PC. It is powered by Pentium III processor. Its configuration is 933 MHz, 128 MB RAM, 20 GB HDD and runs on Windows Me edition. I get this message displayed on the screen whenever I start it - 304-keyboard or system unit error. Though it works normally while playing games, occasionally up and down keys do not respond and functions normally after some hit and trial. I also get this error displayed sometimes - "Spool 32 has caused an error in SPOOL32.EXE. Spool32 will now close. If you continue to experience problem, try restarting your computer." Nimish, Hoshiarpur A. Regarding the first problem, you must unplug the keyboard and then plug it back in the socket. If the problem persists then load the default BIOS setup. This will solve the problem. However, if the problem still persists, then you must consult the hardware vendor. Regarding your second problem, this is a printer related problem and could occur if you try to print multiple fonts in the Fonts folder. To resolve this problem, you should print fewer fonts in the Fonts folder. Other possible reasons for this problem could be third-party program or TSR being loaded, corrupt printer driver, third party driver being loaded, system contains data errors or other problems with files. Therefore as a possible alternative, you must reinstall the correct printer driver and try not use the third party printer driver or incorrect printer driver. Q. I have an assembled PC with the following configuration - Intel Pentium 866 MHz processor, 20 GB hard disk, Intel 810e chipset, 128 MB SDRAM, 52x LG CDROM, D-link 56.6 KBPS external modem. The system is running on Windows '98 SE. My problem is that when I click on shutdown in the Start Menu, after few seconds the system restarts. Also the shutdown screen, "It's now safe to turn off your computer," is not displayed. Then I have to switch off my PC from the power button at the back of the cabinet. However on restarting, it starts normally without scandisk. Please help me in getting out of this problem. Tejinder Singh, Chandigarh A. This problem is due to fault
in advance power management settings in the BIOS set up. Thus in order
to solve this problem, either reset all advance power management
settings to default or load the default BIOS setup settings for the
possible solution of your problem. |
