Pardeep creates record in weightlifting Ludhiana, February 3 Earlier, Dr Iqbal Singh, president of the Ludhiana District Weightlifting Association, inaugurated the meet in which more than sixty participants took part. Results: 56 kg — 1. Kamaljeet Singh of Ludhiana 177.5 kg, 2. Deepak Sharma of Ludhiana 152.5 kg, and 3. Lakhbir Singh of Sidhwan 137.5 kg; 62 kg— 1. Ramandeep Singh of Khanna 205 kg, 2. Balbir Singh of Ludhiana 185 kg, and 3. Hitesh Sharma 170 kg; 69 kg— 1. Pardeep Sharma of Ludhiana 282.5 kg, 2. R Srinivasan 255 kg; and 3. Inderjit Singh of Ludhiana 222.5 kg; 77 kg— 1. Arjinder Singh of Ludhiana 275 kg, 2. Nazar Singh of Khanna 265 kg, and 3. Sukhwinder Singh of Ludhiana 250 kg. Ankush and Ritika emerged as champions in chess among senior boys and senior girls, respectively, at the 4th Annual Sports Festival of New S.M.D. Senior Secondary School, New Shivji Nagar, Ludhiana, held yesterday. In the final, Ankush got the better of Sachin while in the girls section, Ritkia defeated Nitika. In the junior group, Gagandeep outplayed Lalit to win the title. Results: carrom — (sub junior singles): Vipin Rawat (IV) beat Ashish Kumar (IV); (junior): Aarti (VII) beat Renu (VII); (senior boys): Sachin (X) beat Harsh (X); senior girls- Kavita (X) beat Anuradha (X); carrom doubles— (junior) Nishant and Sahil (VI) beat Nikhil and Nitish (VII); (senior boys): Naveen and Gaurav (X) beat Kamal (IX) and Saurav (VIII); (senior girls): Jyoti and Malika (IX) beat Monika and Anny (IX); chess: (senior boys): Ankush (X) beat Sachin (X); senior girls: Ritika (VIII) beat Nitika (IX); junior boys- Gagandeep (V) beat Lalit (V). |
