Set video card driver for erratic mouse
Vipul Verma

VERY commonly it has been observed that while surfing the Internet, all of a sudden either your Internet Explorer gets stuck and stops opening the Website or simply hangs the system. This is not a problem with the computer but is a problem of Internet Explorer. Actually, the HTTP 1.1 specification limits the number of simultaneous connections any browser can make to a given server. But, the answer to this problem also lies in the Internet Explorer itself and can be corrected by some simple changes in the system registry. This tip basically turns off Internet Explorer's built-in compliance with this HTTP standard and thus allows browser to open more simultaneous connections with a server. It simply means that there remains no restriction on the number of simultaneous connections you make to any server at any point of time. The steps involved in this setting include registry editing. Therefore it is recommended that you take a backup of your registry before attempting this tip. Once you are through, first of all Run Regedit and then locate the following folder: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ InternetSettings] . Now create the following "DWORD": MaxConnectionsPerServer and then set the value to any high number as the default value in this case is 2. Now, creat the following "DWORD": MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server and set the value to any high number as well. Here in this case, the default is 4. Now do Regedit and restart. After restarting, you are all set with unlimited version of Internet Explorer with no limitations defined. This is actually a good tip for all the Internet users and can help them a lot in web surfing.

Another common problem associated with the Internet surfing is of modem connection timeouts. Under this problem, the modem stops responding due to it remaining idle for a specific time. This problem sometimes becomes enormous because in some cases due to Internet inactivity also, the modem connection timeouts error occurs. The solution to this problem also lies in registry editing and can be done easily. Under this tip first run Regedit and then locate the folder

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ System\ CurrentControlSet\ Services\ Class\ Net\ 000x]. Now double click on Slownet and change the value to: 00. Once again restart the PC and get set to the uninterrupted Internet connectivity. This problem will take care of the problems arising because modem connection timeouts. But it may not help in cases where the Internet connection disrupts due to other type of problems leading to disconnectivity. In any case it could be a helpful tip for anyone who experiences regular modem connection timeout problems.

The next is quite amazing and reminds me of a doctor who used to treat his patient suffering from headache for stomach disorder for he knew that the former had its roots in the latter. The following tip for mouse related problem is similar to this kind of treatment. You must have noticed that sometimes the mouse starts behaving erratically and despite all your efforts including rebooting and updating the driver, the problem does not get solved fully. There are two basic solutions to this problem. Under the first solution, you must clean the mouse physically and remove all the dirt and deposits from it. You can do so by opening it from the bottom and remove the ball. Now using the denatured alcohol clean the rollers and other parts very gently. You can wash the ball with warm water and also with mild soap. This will clear the ball of all the dirt and deposits and also of any greasy layer on it. Now after drying the ball well, place it back in the mouse and then start using it. If the erratic behavior of the mouse was due to dirt and deposits, then your problem will be solved and your mouse will start functioning properly.

However if it doesn't work well, then you can reinstall the mouse by first uninstalling from the device manager under settings menu in control panel and when you restart your computer, the Windows will detect the mouse and install it automatically. This tip also works in most of the cases and fixes the problem. However if this tip also fails to deliver, then the treatment of doctor mentioned above can be applied. As for this tip, video card driver could cause the erratic mouse movements. You can thus rectify this problem by adjusting the graphics acceleration slider off its highest level. To work out this tip, click on the control panel and then click on system icon. This will open system properties window on your computer screen. Now click on performance tab and then click on the graphics button located towards the bottom of the window. This will open "Advanced to graphics setting" window on your computer screen. Move the graphics acceleration slider to one notch to the left from full. This will take control of the mouse movement from the graphics card and will give it to Windows. Now close all open Windows and restart the system. On restarting you will find your problem solved. However, after the solution of this problem, you will need to update your video driver also to keep it working properly.

The next tip is about the most common error being faced by the majority of users in the Internet Explorer. The message as per this errors reads something like "Iexplore has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL. Iexplore will now close. If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer." This is a common error and occurs due to very simple reason. The first and the most common reason is the junk files present in your system. If you keep your system free of clutter, then this error may get reduced substantially.

To remove the clutter from your browser, first, delete the cache and history because corrupt stored files can also cause this error. For removing these files click on Tools> Internet Options and then delete history files and also the temporary files. Also delete files check box marked Delete all offline content and then click OK. Now click on settings and then click on the view objects button located towards the bottom of the box.

>View Objects. Now choose View Details from the View menu on the menu bar. Here if you see Active X items described as damaged right click each one and remove it. If there are no damaged items update each by right clicking and selecting update and going online. Now close this window. You should remove any temporary files in your system manually and for doing this go to C:\ Windows\ Temporary Internet files and delete anything left, mainly cookies. A corrupt ActiveX control may also cause this error. Along with this you should also delete al the *.tmp files in your temp folder to clean your system completely. This will solve your problem.
