JRA lift Teri Super Sixes Cup

New Delhi, January 17
JRA (Jai Ranganathan Associates) humbled hosts Teri (Tata Energy Research Institute) by 18 runs to lift the third Teri Super Sixes Tournament at the Teri Oval in Gurgaon. JRA hit up a blistering 100 runs for the loss of two wickets in five overs while Teri, in reply, were shot out for 82 runs in five overs. Jai Prasad of Teri, who had given a consistent performance throughout the tournament, was adjudged the Man of the Tournament. He had scored 31 not out against Business Standard, 32 not out against Hero Honda, 30 not out against Delphi and 35 (retired) against JRA.

Hitesh Sharma appointed referee

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has appointed former Delhi Ranji Trophy player Hitesh Sharma as the match referee for the Ranji Trophy pre-quarter final between Uttar Pradesh and Orissa to be played at Cuttack from January 27 to 31.

Delhi Police beat N D Heroes

Delhi Police beat New Delhi Heroes 2-0 in a Group A preliminary league match of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA)-SAIL Senior Division Football League Championship at the Ambedkar Stadium in the Capital today. Delhi Police have completed their league engagements by logging 13 points from five matches to qualify for the Durand Cup. V. Samson and Jatinder Adhikari were the goal-scorers.

SRCC, Jamia win in Zakir Husain Soccer

Sri Ram College of Commerce beat Moti Lal Nehru College 1-0 and Jamia Millia Islamia downed St Stephen’s College 3-2 in the 15th Zakir Husain Memorial Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium in the Capital today.

Speaker wants LG to take nod on Master Plan

New Delhi, January 17
Reacting sharply to the Capital’s Master Plan 2020 announced recently by Lieutenant Governor Vijai Kapoor, Assembly Speaker Prem Singh has demanded that approval of elected representatives should be taken before finalising the Plan. Describing the announcement as a “matter of great shock and displeasure”, Mr Singh, in a letter to Mr Kapoor, said “the future of Delhi in the year 2020 can be decided only by the 1.5 crore people living in Delhi today and not by a handful of the bureaucrats and agencies.”

“It is not a bureaucratic matter to decide about the shape of the capital city of India.”
