Help for heart patient

Anyone who wants to help heart patient Lal Hussain, awaiting an operation at the PGI (see story on page 3 of ‘Chandigarh Tribune’ of January 16), should issue cheques in the name of the Director PGI Chandigarh and deposit these with the Public Relations Office, PGI. The covering letter should mention the name of the patient.

PU Campus team in semi-finals

Garima Thakur, a postgraduate physical education student of Panjab University Campus, proved to be a key player for her team when she enabled them in beating the Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, 2-0, thus entering the semi-finals of the Panjab University Inter-College Badminton Tournament (Women) played here today. Garima won both her matches in singles and doubles categories. MCM DAV College, Sector 36, also joined PU Campus in reaching the last four when they overpowered PEC-12 2-0.

Handball meet

Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, outclassed Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 21, by 5-2 in the 15th UT junior girls handball meet played at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8. The half time score was 2-1. In another match of the day, Coaching Centre, Sector 21, beat Chandigarh Handball Club, Sector 23, 13-9.

Basketball tourney

The Chandigarh Basketball Association has selected the following girls to take part in the All-India Nacchattar Singh Gill cash prize basketball tournament to be held at kotkapura (Punjab) from January 27 to 31.

The coaching camp will begin tomorrow at the IS Dev Samaj Girls Senior Secondary School, Sector 21, under the guidance of Ms Paramjit Kaur, a Sports Department coach.
