Kids chat

Generate images of Earth

HELLO friends and welcome to our weekly kids chat.

Cliparti: Hey guys, what’s up?

Windy: Nothing much. My younger brother has just finished with his exams and has been hovering over my head since then. I really don’t know what to do with him.

Fluppy: Why doesn’t he play with his toys?

Windy: For that also he needs me to sit and play.

Cliparti: Best thing would be to give him some storybooks to read. I am sure he would like to do that himself.

Windy: Yes. But he has already read all books he had. I don’t have time to go to the bookstore and get a book for him.

Cliparti:
But then, the Net is always at your rescue.

Windy: Gosh, why didn’t it strike me?

Cliparti: Never mind, it could have just slipped your mind.

Fluppy: Or your mind could have slipped!

Windy: Oh, shut up!

Cliparti: Cool it guys. I’ll tell you of this Children’s storybooks online. You will find this at www.magickeys.com/books/. Basically, you will find lots of fun things here. There are not just books but riddles, maze, colourings and sounds to add to this site. And mind you, this has books not just for young children but also for older children and young adult. Further, all these books are not jumbled up together but sorted into different sections. For example, books for younger children are Sniffy and Fluffy have an adventure.

Fluppy: What? Fluppy?

Cliparti: No, Fluffy. Double f! Anyways, other books are like, Kitty wants a box, Buzzy Bee, Counting story, Animals you can see at zoo, farm animals and there is a lovely animated story of the alphabet.

Windy: This sure sounds quite an impressive way of learning the fun way.

Cliparti: It sure is! Children tend to remember the story and in turn the alphabets or the names of animals the story talks about.

Windy: Quite true.

Cliparti: Okay, so I was talking about these stories. For older children, you will have Absulum the Reindeer Elf, Grow your own Gargoyle, The Wumpalump, The Loomploy, The littlest Knight and many others. And for young adults you will come across books like A Tale of friendship and others.

Fluppy: All these books are old ideas. I think you should try something new for your brother, Windy!

Windy: New like what? Why don’t you suggest something, sweetheart?

Fluppy: My teacher says, we should all do our part of thinking ourselves.

Windy: Fine. Then to have something new or novel, I think I should take him to see the moon! Ha, Ha!

Fluppy: Wow, not a bad idea!

Windy: But just as stupid and impossible as you!

Cliparti: No Windy, come to think of it is not that bad an idea.

Windy: Hey, you too have gone crazy? Guess it is all because of company.

Cliparti: You don’t get my point. You know there is this wonderful site as Earth and Moon Viewer. You can view Earth from the Sun, the Moon, the night side of the Earth, above any location on the planet specified by latitude, longitude and altitude, from a satellite in Earth orbit, or above various cities around the globe. You can view the moon from the Earth, Sun, night side, above named formations on the lunar surface, or as a map showing day and night. You can generate images of the Earth, or composite images of cloud cover superimposed on a map of the Earth, or a colour composite that shows clouds, land and sea temperatures, and ice. You can even compose a custom request with frequently used parameters and save it as a hotlist or bookmark it in your browser.

Fluppy: See what brilliant idea I gave you!

Windy: Look who is talking! You gave it to me? You didn’t even know such a site existed.

Fluppy: So what? At least I suggested you to think different.

Windy: And let me remind you this is what I thought, and not you.Cliparti: Excuse me! Is anyone here interested in knowing more about this site or at least its address?

Windy: Oh! Please, I am interested. This creature called Fluppy has a perpetual habit of straying away from what is important!

Fluppy: And you, like that particular creature have that habit of following where your master leads.

Windy: How dare you?

Fluppy: You started it!

Cliparti: Guys, I think we should call it a day. You people don’t seem fit to do any serious talking today.

Windy: Not before you tell me the name of that site.

Cliparti: Fine. It is www.fourmilab.ch/earthview/vplanet.html and now you can see for yourself what all it has.

Windy: Thanks anyways. You are an angel

Cliparti: Why don’t you also try to be one?
