PESHAWAR: Protesters of the Jamait-e-Ulema-e-Islam (Moulana Fazal-ur-Rehman) tear apart an American flag on September 19 in Peshawar, Pakistan. The group of more than 1,000 people condemned the terrorist attacks on the USS but opposed any action by the USA against Afghanistan without evidence against Osama bin Laden. The group also called for a general strike from Friday and demanded that Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf not accept any demands of the USA which are in conflict with the Islamic code. —AP/PTI
