Ohmygoodness! Cards galore for Teacher’s Day

HEY kids! Welcome to our weekly kids chat.

Fluppy: Hey guys, do you know how many words can an average lead pencil write in English language?

Windy: A pencil doesn’t write stupid. We write with a pencil. And words number can’t be assessed as the length of words keep varying from "in" to "encyclopedia". So your question doesn’t make much sense!

Fluppy: Okay, I’ll put it differently. Tell me how long a line can be drawn using an average lead pencil?

Cliparti: I don’t think I have any idea!

Fluppy: How about you, Windy?

Windy: Well, a few miles maybe.

Fluppy: Excuse me! A few could mean anything between two to hundred. So your answer doesn’t make much sense.

Cliparti: I agree!

Windy: Lets say, five miles!

Fluppy: Wrong. It is thirty -five miles and almost 50,000 words.

Windy: So you wasted a complete pencil experimenting this?

Fluppy: Of course not! I read it in one of the sites.

Cliparti: Wow, an amazing fact! Imagine an eraser that could mach it!

Fluppy: Find out for yourself from www.indianchild.com/project_or_homework_help.htm

Cliparti:
Hey, that sounds quite a useful site.

Fluppy: Yes, as the name suggests it has lots of homework help along with projects to do obviously accompanied with such amazing facts. Not only this, it has a complete information on our very own country from its culture to monuments to Parliament to freedom fighters and what not. Then for your entertainment it also features dramas, films, theater and even Shakespeare. A complete list of encyclopaedia to dictionary to thesaurus is what you will find here.

Windy: Are you sure you are talking of just one site? I have a feeling that you are confused.

Fluppy: How about seeing it for yourself?

Windy: Yes, seeing is believing!

Fluppy: Guys do you have any idea what’s coming up day after tomorrow?

Windy: Some holiday?

Fluppy: Somebody’s birthday?

Cliparti: Yes, it is somebody’s birthday.

Fluppy: Yours?

Cliparti: No stupid. It is Dr. Radhakrishnan’s birthday. And it is Teacher’s Day.

Fluppy: Oh my goodness! I forgot to buy card for my favourite teacher.

Cliparti: Don’t worry; Oh my goodness will help you.

Fluppy: What do you mean?

Cliparti:Ohmygoodness.com/cards/teachers.htm is the name of a site. You will find amusing teachers day cards and postcards here. Even animated teachers day cards are also here.

Windy: At www.appukids.com/ teachersday.html you will find a wide variety of cards to choose from. You can either click on the cards given, or you can create your very own custom- made card.

Fluppy: I think I’ll go for one of the given cards.

Cliparti: I would send my own creation. That would not only give a personal touch, but also show how much I respect and love my teacher.

Fluppy: That is a difficult task for me.

Windy: You mean you can’t create a simple card?

Fluppy: It is not that. My problem is spellings. I can make a card, but if I will write even a single sentence on my own, it will have hundreds of spelling mistakes. So in the end, instead of any appreciation I will land up getting scolding from my teacher.

Windy: Poor Fluppy! Never mind you send one of the pre-designed cards. Just add your teacher’s name on the top and your name at the bottom. I hope you can spell your name at least.

Cliparti: No Fluppy, I think you should work on your spellings. I will tell you of this lovely site at www.ash.udel.edu/ash/challenge/spellindex.html. This will help you take up spellings as a challenge and you will learn them the fun way. There would be spelling with sound, spelling without sound and spellings according to the word endings. You can learn to make spellings on your own and that too correctly!

Fluppy: Wow! That would be really nice. I am sure then even I will be able to send self-created card not only to my teacher but also to my parents, my relatives and friends.

Windy: You mean you will send teachers day cards to your parents, relatives and friends?

Fluppy: How stupid one can be? I meant that once I am sure of my spellings I can send self-designed cards to my parents on their birthdays and anniversary and birthday cards to my friends and relatives.

Windy: Okay, so that’s it. Anyway the site I just told you about also has these miscellaneous cards. You can send them if you want.

Fluppy: Which site are you talking about?

Windy: www.appukids.com/ teachersday.html, which else?

Cliparti: But you are forgetting, Windy, Fluppy just decided he would be designing his cards and not send cards that are readily available on the net or in the market.

Windy: Really?

Fluppy: Really!
