Star styles for the season FOR all those wanting to lap up all those interesting personal details about the latest famous face of Bollywood, Gracy Singh, the heroine of Lagaan, here is a checklist of her style preferences:
Date of Birth: July 20 Most comfortable in: Clothes that have a loose fit, but are not too loose either. I want to be able to breathe in them. Hate to be seen in: I am allergic to clothes that stick to my body. Designers I like: Manish Malhotra, Neeta Lulla, Bhanu Athaiya, Ritu Beri. Bhanu Athaiya is a hot favourite ‘coz: Because we worked really well in Lagaan. Besides, I don’t know any designer personally. I have always loved the creation of the above mentioned makers though. My clothes are important ‘coz: Life is unfair and a badly dressed person is hardly taken seriously. When in Mumbai I shop
at: Any good boutique, at
discounted sales and at showrooms. I often go to Shoppers and KBN. |
At a wedding, I’d wear: A lovely skirt with embroidery work and a silk top. The most well dressed male/female film star is: Aamir of course. Among the girls, I really can’t pick anyone. They are all good dressers. The most well dressed male/female non-film star is: I love Milind Soman, he looks so good that anything looks great on him and I think Aditi too is a well-dressed person. Accessories I like: Bangles and diamonds. Both are a form of glass . My skin is good ‘coz: I wash my face every day. Cosmetics I use: I always liked to put powder as a kid, now I have switched to compact. Then eyeliner and lipstick, that’s all. My favourite perfume is: Tommy Girl. I style my hair from: Dilshad. My menu for a good diet is: Salads, a glass of water before a meal and good sleep. The other young stars too have their own signature styles and preferences. Forget Amitabh Bachchan’s knotted shirt, or Rajesh Khanna’s guru kurtas — or for that matter. Saira Banu’s body-fitting churidar kurtas and Sadhana’s bouffant hair dos... Bollywood’s current heartthrobs are a lot more imaginative and have much to offer. Here’s quick checklist of the five hottest style statements from reigning stars of Hindi cinema: Bandanna: Saif Ali Khan has taken this tie-and-dye strip from the level of roadside fashion to a signature style as he shows up at various film dos in Mumbai with the red one. He was spotted wearing the same bandanna thrice at different awards functions within a fortnight. Soul Patch: Ever since Aamir Khan kept that little below-the-lip tuft from Dil Chahta Hai, the soul patch became the most imitated style statement in recent times. From the dhoti -kurta look of Lagaan to his current hip-trendy image, complete with spiky hair and zap, Aamir is way ahead of the brat pack. Sarong: Preity Zinta flaunts hers while jiving in the title number of Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar Ke and Twinkle Khanna lets hers flutter to the tune of Rama rama in Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega. But the real trendsetter is Salman Khan, who made stylists wake up to the sarong in Har dil Jo Pyar Karega.
