Fluppy: No, they couldn’t have. Actually, everybody was asked to write his or her guess on a piece of paper and submit before entering. Later these were read out in front of everybody. You won’t believe what wildest of guesses people had. Of course, people with right guess were given gifts. That reminds me, what gift did you get Windy? Windy: I got this lovely book on jokes. It is by Khushwant Singh. Cliparti: Wow, that is really nice. Boy, you guys really had a swell time. Tell me more. What happened next? Fluppy: Oh, that was really fun. Just as we entered we were handed a piece of block. This block was tied up to a yarn and we were supposed to keep following it as it went back and forth, over and under and through the furniture in the party room. Cliparti: Wow! It must have been such fun! Windy: Fun? It was much more than fun and such chaos too. Everywhere you could see children going over and under the furniture and banging on to each other. Some lost their thread or got mixed up with someone’s. Fluppy: Mine got entangled with two other. Cliparti: Gosh, did you manage to get it free? Fluppy: Yes, but only after it broke! Windy: He broke not only his but the other two too! And you can’t imagine how furious those two got. Cliparti: Poor Fluppy. It’s all part of the game. Fluppy: I understood but those two didn’t! Windy: Naturally!! Cliparti: So tell me what happened to the yarn? Fluppy: Those who managed to wind up the whole thing reached up to a small surprise gift. Cliparti: That is very cute. Windy: That was not all. These gifts had this secret message written on it stating the cause of celebration. This way a few more persons were added to the list who knew whose birthday it was! Fluppy: Of course, they were requested to keep the secret, as that was a part of the bigger game yet to come. Cliparti: But anybody could get hold of the slip and read what it said. Windy: That is where you miss. Actually, these messages were secret because they were written in such a way that only if you held the paper over some sort of heat like, say, a bulb or a toaster you could read the message. Cliparti: That is what I call intelligent! Fluppy: I wonder how they did that? Windy: Oh, it is all so simple. What you do is, take a toothpick and dip it in the lemon juice. Then you write with it. You have a secret message that can be read by the people you choose, while others would consider it a plain sheet of paper. Fluppy: Cool man. How do you know all this? Windy: You will find this and string hunt and lots of other games at www.datasvnc.com/waidsoft/funkids.htm. You must have heard of the book called "101 Things to do with your kids". Some 20 fun things have been taken from there. Then it also has some Halloween ideas to try on your friends and scare them off. Fluppy: Wow! Tell me of some scary tricks. Cliparti: Hey guys, we were talking about the party. Tell me more about the party. Fluppy: What else should we tell? Similarly there were many other games. Finally we had food; I can still feel my mouth water even at the thought of it! Cliparti: I don’t want to hear about the food. Tell me how everybody got to know what the celebration was all about? Windy: Similarly lots of games were played and the winners were given the secret messages. In the end they all shouted at the top of their voices. Cliparti: What? Fluppy: Happy Birthday to Log in…, Happy Birthday to you. — Ira Verma |
