Dreaming of a child

IT is not easy for an adult to understand a child but for a child it is rather easy to understand the adult, thus the common saying that child is the father of man. But when it comes to the appearance of a child in a dream, interpreting it is not very difficult. From ugly children to beautiful kids, and in some cases deformed ones, the child as a symbol varies in dreams.

According to Indian theologists, to see a child in dream predicts that you shall soon be blessed with a child. Seeing a small boy shall bring you lots of peace, and should the child be seen sitting in your lap then you shall gain in wealth. Should it be an unknown child that you see in your dreams then beware of tensions within the family. Should it be a small girl that you see in your dreams then again you shall be blessed with lots of happiness. Should you in your dream see twins then again it predicts gain in wealth. Should a woman see a child calling out then she should understand that her lover has taken to having relation with another woman. Should one see that one is adopting a child then the person shall gain immensely through gambling. Should you see your child dying then all the plans you have made shall get destroyed.

As per western theologists, seeing many beautiful children is portentious of great prosperity and blessings. Dreaming of crying babies is indicative of ill health and disappointments. A bright, clean baby denotes love requitted and many warm friends. Should you dream of your baby being sick you shall face sorrows. To see children working or studying, denotes peaceful times and general prosperity. To dream of your dead child, denotes worry and disappointments in the near future. To see disappointed children denotes worry from troublesome enemies.

Psychologically, dreaming of babies’ portrays that we are in touch with the innocent, curious side of ourselves, with the part that neither wants or needs responsibility. Should the baby you dream of be your own then you need to recognise those feelings over which you have no control. If the baby is someone else’s then you need to be aware of that person’s ability to be hurt or that they may be innocent of something. In fact, dreaming of a child gives us access to the child in us. We all have parts of ourselves that are still child-like and curious. When we get in touch with that side of ourselves we give ourselves permission to clarify a potential for wholeness for which we may not have previously recognised.

Take the dream of a young medical student. She would often dream of babies which were hers, but in reality she was yet unmarried. The interpretation to this dream would be two. Firstly, the natural maternal desire which does overtake a girl or a young woman sometime or the other, especially if she is coming in contact with small children quite often. Secondly, the desire to relive her childhood due to certain prevailing restrictions or problems which she does not desire to face.
