IT growth positive

"THOUGH the US slowdown is affecting the Indian and global IT scenario, yet IT continues to record a positive growth."

This was stated by Ravi Khanna, a senior vice-president of Aptech, while addressing a group of students during his recent visit to Chandigarh.

He said the downward slump had been arrested and had shown positive signs of stabilising. Elaborating various job opportunities in the IT sector, Mr. Khanna said an IT professional could look forward to the various job options in the field of software development, network administration, database administration, hardware engineering, sales, customer support, technical writing, multimedia authoring and Web designing.

Since the clientele of the Indian IT companies had grown by 32 per cent, more software professionals would be required to work in India itself on offshore projects.

"This would in turn ensure that the Indian companies grow even bigger," he opined and added IT-enabled services, like call centres, medical and legal transcriptions could also become major fields where such professionals might find openings. — TNS
