Why you should...
...not go on a diet

  • Illustration by Sandeep JoshiWhat’s the point in your shedding those extra calories. You’ll only make your spouse/partner look fat in comparison. You’ll begin to look like Laurel, while he/she will keep looking like Hardy.

  • Your spouse will have less of you to love.

  • If you win the battle of the bulge you will not be able to throw your weight around.

  • It’s a costly affair. You might save the precious cash that went into buying all that junk food—colas, chocolates, chips, et al. But you’ll end up spending more on a new wardrobe for the lean ’n’ thin you.

  • You’ll only be adding to the nation’s malnourished population.

  • You’ll be putting all those cola manufacturers and much-frequented fast-food joints out of business.

  • You’ll be providing unnecessary competition to the Miss Universe aspirants.

  • You will give your partner one less reason to be unfaithful. Why deprive him/her of more choice.

  • There are so many starved souls in the world. If you’ve got all goodies on a platter, there has to be a divine reason behind it—you’re the blessed one. Enjoy this priviliged status.

  • Why look anorexic like Lady Diana. A pleasantly plump person is more pleasing to the eye than a reed-thin one.
