Interim bail for Rima Jain
Tribune News Service

Ludhiana, June 12
The Ludhiana District and Sessions Judge, Mr Justice S.S. Arora, has granted an interim bail to Rima Jain, against whom a case had been registered under Sections 307, 356 and 323 of the IPC on the complaint of her sister-in-law, Sangeeta Jain.

The prosecution wants some time to investigate the case properly. The Judge had adjourned the hearing on anticipatory bail application till June 18. However, he had said that, in the event of the arrest of Rima Jain, she would be given an interim bail to the satisfaction of the investigating officer, SHO of the Division No. 5 police station.

Rima Jain had stated in her anticipatory-bail application that her husband had been murdered by husband of the complainant and this case was to be taken up in the court of Mr Justice A.K. Sharma, Additional Sessions Judge of Ludhiana, on July 4. “The complainant and her husband, Anil Jain, want to grab my property. They are also forcing me to withdraw the murder case. That’s why a false FIR has been lodged against me,” she said in her bail application.

She also alleged that her sister-in-law had kicked her in the stomach and she had reported this to the SSP and the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana.

The Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, had also ordered a probe into this family feud of the Jain family. Rima’s husband, Sunil Jain, a local industrialist, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in December 1999 and Rima had accused her brother-in-law, Anil Jain, for the “murder”.
