Redesigning lifestyle
V.K. Kapoor

THIS requires reorganising activities to achieve a proper balance between stresses and rewards

A Holistic Model of Lifestyle entails Happiness, Health and Well-being are a Holistic proposition

The holistic concept implies that you cannot be an unhealthy or ineffective person in private life and an effective person in your job.

The Effective Person is: an effective manager; an effective spouse; an effective parent; an effective member of organisations; and an effective friend and companion.

  • The guiding principle of the holistic view is that with your mind and emotions, you govern your own health and well being.

  • A second major principle of holistic view is that of balance.

  • If you pour all your energy into one area of your life, neglecting other needs, you become lopsided and less than whole.

A holistic approach to lifestyle requires a balance of all six dimensions of living and working:

Professional: Whatever you do that constitutes: your life’s central activity; your relationship to the organisation in which you work;

Financial: Money, material goods and possessions and the things that give you feelings of security and satisfaction; your general financial position.

Social: Relationships and activities you share with Family, Friends, Members of the opposite sex; and Recreational activities involving other people.

Cultural: Self-broadening activities such as Travelling; Reading, The ways in which you absorb new ideas and enjoy learning new things.

Creative: Activities in which you express your personality, and through which you grow and enjoy being a person; and Hobbies, Crafts, or Artwork;.

Personal: Your physical health and well-being; Spiritual pursuits of your own choosing; and Emotional stability and Personal adjustment;

Most people, including medical people and health experts, have long overlooked the mutually supporting, synergistic relationship between the three factors:

  • Relaxation,

  • Exercise and

  • Diet.

These factors are not three individual aspects of health but an integrated triad of factors — wellness triad.
