Map maker Ian Thomas stands beside a computer displaying his infamous map of Area 1002 of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Thomas's map showed sites where Caribou give birth to their calves, and coincidentally, where the Bush administration wants to open it to exploratory oil drilling. Thomas posted the map to a government Web site and was released from his job five days later. He now works making maps at the World Wildlife Fund.
