Basketball teams announced

The district junior basketball teams (boys and girls) have been announced. According to a press release issued here today by Mr Teja Singh Dhaliwal, Secretary, Punjab Basketball Association, the teams were selected for the 52nd Punjab State Junior Basketball Championship which was scheduled to be held from May 17 to 20.

The members of the boys team are: Jasjit Singh (captain), Amit Prashar, Fatehjit Singh, Vinod Kumar, Arjinder Singh, Hardeep Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Ramesh Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Ayub and Karnbir Singh. Mr Dewinder Pal Singh would be the coach of the team.

The members of the girls team are: Manpreet Kaur Cheema (Captain), Kamaljit Kaur, Harinder Kaur, Rehka, Rajani, Taranbir Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Bani Preet Kaur, Jaswinder Kaur, Manju and Namrata. Mr J.S.Bhandari would be the coach of the team.

NSO camp in July

The National Sports Organisation (NSO) training camp is scheduled to be held from July 9 to 23. Mr J.S. Toor, Joint Director, Sports, PAU, said, “The students of B.Sc agriculture (Honours), B.Tech (agriculture engineering) and B.Sc (home science), who have enrolled themselves for the NSO, are required to attend one coaching camp of 15 days.”

Mr Toor further stated that those who had not attended the camp of the NSO would not be allowed to take admission in the first semester of the academic session 2001-2002. About 80 application forms are already received from the students of the various colleges to participate in the camp. The last date for submitting applications is May 10.
