IMA demands VRS for doctors Ludhiana, March 20 Dr Gursharan Singh, district president, IMA, in a press
statement alleged that government had played a cruel joke with the medical
community. He said all other government employees were availing the
benefits of the VRS and the doctors should also not be deprived of the
extra benefits of the scheme. Dr Gursharan Singh said that a clerk of the
Health Department was entitled to avail the benefits of the VRS but the
doctors were forced to suffer the monetary loss caused by the
government’s decision. He said on an average an official with at least
20 years of service will be paid between Rs 10 to 15 lakh under the VRS
scheme but the government’s decision to exclude medical professional
from the VRS was a ‘partial’ one. |
