Gesture for quake hit by city students

A group of Chandigarh students, all aged between 19 and 23, were perturbed by the recent quake and have created a Web site on the Gujarat tragedy.

Nakul, Gaurav, Nimesh, Sumit, Vishal and Saurabh, all IT students, have developed a unique concept through which they intend to contribute to the Prime Minister Relief Fund. They joined hands to form the CWS team. CWS stand for Centronics Web Systems and the team has developed a few Web sites.

They have created a Web site www.cwsteam.com/gujarat. The site highlights the plight of the quake-ravaged persons and has photographs listed in reverse chronological sequence.

The news pages are updated every 12 hours and news from various agencies and top newspapers have also been arranged date wise. Links, important information and help line numbers have been put in a user-friendly way.

The site has voting system to ascertain the public view. Questions are updated constantly.

The CWS team, through the voting system, intends to contribute for the Prime Minister Relief Fund by adding Re 1 for every vote cast online.

"We plan to do it in absolute transparency," says Nakul. Scanned electronic image of bank drafts will be hosted on the site and those in the message board section will be informed through e-mail about it.
