Tribune News Service

HDFC Standard Life, one of the first companies to get its licence for life insurance, plans to harness womanpower to get agents. The company plans to sell insurance policies through housewives and the company held a seminar with redforwomen.com, one of the career and business site for women, last week at New Delhi.

Redforwomen has already organised six entrepreneurship and flexi-work seminars till now and with the coming in of insurance companies has already tied-up with most of the major players for recruiting educated women to sell insurance products. "This segment is aware and educated but is sitting at home due to family reasons," Ms Rachna Chhachhi, founder CEO of the site says.

The site that is seven months old gets 1.3 million page views per month and has 25,000 registered users. HDFC Standard Life is a joint venture between HDFC, an Indian housing finance company and Standard Life Assurance Company of the UK.
