Standard Life, one of the first companies to get its licence for life
insurance, plans to harness womanpower to get agents. The company
plans to sell insurance policies through housewives and the company
held a seminar with redforwomen.com, one of the career and business
site for women, last week at New Delhi.
Redforwomen has
already organised six entrepreneurship and flexi-work seminars till
now and with the coming in of insurance companies has already tied-up
with most of the major players for recruiting educated women to sell
insurance products. "This segment is aware and educated but is
sitting at home due to family reasons," Ms Rachna Chhachhi,
founder CEO of the site says.
The site that is seven months old
gets 1.3 million page views per month and has 25,000 registered users.
HDFC Standard Life is a joint venture between HDFC, an Indian housing
finance company and Standard Life Assurance Company of the UK.
