If it is a historical one, then you need to explore and look into your past, while a romantic novel would suggest the need to look at relationships. If you are a writer and dream of reading your own work and see it being published, then be cautious. You will face much trouble in getting your work to the public.

To dream of spending time studying and solving some intricate subjects and the hidden meaning of learned authors is significant of honors well-earned. To see children reading books, denotes harmony and good conduct of the young. To see a bookcase full of books signifies that you shall associate knowledge with your work and pleasure.

Our search for knowledge and the ability to learn from other people’s experiences and opinions, is symbolised in dreams by books and libraries. Psychologically, it represents our search for ways which will help us to handle what happens in our lives.

Dreaming of religious books represents our need to verify whether we are on the right path and our need to be reassured about it. Dreaming of reading novels would signify our search for stimulation. A play of words in a book is perhaps an indicator of how we are looking for some new way of dealing with our lives.

A 68-year-old man often sees himself go to a library in search of a particular book which he cannot locate. As he is coming out of the library he turns back to see that the bookracks in the library are totally bare.

While interpreting this dream, it is important to consider the person’s age. After retirement, remaining occupied becomes a major issue. Moreover, in a country like ours, recreation facilities for the aged are scarce and rare. The feeling of helplessness is clearly portrayed in this dream, both by the inability to find the book and the empty bookracks.

Reading a book in a dream is a search for some information. What we are searching for is portrayed by the kind of material we are reading or searching for.
