ASCII: ASCII is a text file that conforms to the American Standard Code for Information Interchange.

Dithering: Dithering is a technique for alternating the values of adjacent dots or pixels to create the effect of intermediate values or giving the illusion of a third colour.

 


Icon:
As it relates to a Web page, an icon is a graphical image that usually represents the main topic or information category of another Web page. Frequently, the icon is a link to that page.

Host: This is a computer that acts as a server for other computers on the network. It can be a Web server, an e-mail server or an FTP server. For instance, a Web host is what provides the content of Web pages to the computers that access it.

Emoticon: Emoticons are the little text-based faces and objects you often see in e-mail and online chat. They help give the reader a sense of the writer’s feelings and what they mean in their writing. For example, the classic =) shows that the writer is happy about something or that he is has taken a message in good humour. The =P is used to show frustration, a feeling of irony.

Spam: Spam is the term, which has originated from the name of Hormel’s canned meat; spam is junk mail on the Internet. The most common form of spamming is through e-mail, like those dang forwards persons you hardly know send you. Spam can also be annoying postings to a newsgroup or bulletin board. Spamming other persons is one of the most notorious violations of the Internet etiquette or "netiquette".
