Making purse with woven mats

Hello and welcome back

Fluppy: What a long weekend it was. I wish they keep giving us so many holidays every month.

Windy: So you can laze around all day?

Fluppy: What do you mean laze around? I have been working really hard this weekend. Now I think, I need some, say two more holidays to relax.

Windy: Sure. Why not?

Cliparti: What all did you do to make you so tired, Fluppy?

Fluppy: Of course with the festivities of Divali it got hectic. Although I didn’t burst many crackers, as you had advised me, yet there was so much to do. Helping with lights, entertaining guests playing cards with my friends, gobbling all sweets that mom made, visiting relatives and so on.

Cliparti: So you had a nice time socialising. What did you do Windy?

Windy: Oh I didn’t want to waste time like Fluppy. I utilised my time, spending it on the Internet.

Fluppy
: You sure are becoming a Net addict.

Cliparti: I bet you must have come across some really nice things.

Windy: Yes, you are right. With ample time at hand I scrolled through some project sites. I also took up some projects. You know I made a telescope for myself.

Cliparti: Wow! Tell us more. How did you do it?

Windy: Oh! It was very simple and took very little time. Then I saw magnetic fields in another experiment with viewing bottles.

Fluppy: That must have been nice. Where did you learn it?

Windy: There is a science club, which has all sorts of projects for kids. It is at http://www.halcyon.com/sciclub/kidprojl.htm It has broad categorisation as simple, medium and advanced projects. So that means that it has projects to suit all. Make an electric generator or giant rainbow prism or an electrostatic loud speaker. What’s more it has link pages that would lead you to other sites with build it projects, and a long book list for many other experiments.

Cliparti: What other sites did you visit?

Windy: A site, http://www.sciencemadesimple.com, is wonderful. As the name suggests, it really makes science simple. It gives clear, detailed answers to children’s science questions. There are various sections like quick question and answers, science news and projects. According to it, the kids are natural scientists. They learn by asking questions. So Fluppy, with the help of this site, even you can aspire to be a scientist.

Fluppy: What do you mean by "with the help of this site". I am a born scientist.

Windy: Yes, Whose area of research is "games".

Fluppy: Cliparti, has research been done on this topic?

Cliparti: No, I don’t think so. I guess you’ll be the first one to do it.

Fluppy: Good. Windy, now I think you can tell me some games sites for my research purpose.

Windy: Why not, your honour. You may please log on to Max’s Kids Books and —

Fluppy: No, No, Windy. Not books, games, games. G-A-M-E-S.

Windy: Have patience dear. It is Max’s Kids Books and GAMES. At http://www.maxvikfunpage.com/you will come across Max’s fun site. Be it online games, riddles or greeting cards or educational books, all is here. Max Publications is a renowned publisher of children’s travel activity books and mystery books for children aged 6 to 12.

Cliparti: At http://kidsnetgames.about.com/kids/kidsnetgames/msub22.htm also, you will find various games. From animal game to arcade game, dino game to guessing game, memory game to space game, science game to magic or mazes or game with math to ... pooh!

Windy: Yeah. This is really something. Just on Maths for example, it has innumerable games like 3 glass puzzle, A + Math flashcards, A + Math games, Ask Dr. Math and, clever games for clever persons. So you can imagine how many games in total would there be.

Fluppy: I think this would be a good site for my research.

Windy: Sure, Dr Fluppy.

Fluppy: What were you up to, Cliparti? You didn’t tell us what you did in your holidays.

Cliparti: I made a few gifts for my friends and family, painted my brother’s shirt and made some ornaments as fashion accessories for my friend. I also made a purse with woven mats for my mother.

Windy: You sure have been creative. Did your mother like the purse you made for her?

Cliparti: Yeah, sure. She said it was the best Divali gift she ever received.

Fluppy: That’s so sweet of her to say that. I wish I could also gift my mother that purse.

Cliparti: Why not? It is very simple to make. You can find, this and a whole lot of other ideas too from http://www.michaels.com/craft/online/searchresults?search=kid.

This has a wide category of projects to do. I chose crafts from it. You can opt for fine arts or needlework or floral and home decor or any other. There are gifts for all occasions.

Windy: Yes. It sure is a different thing when you make a gift yourself rather than buy it. Isn’t it?

Fluppy: Yeah. But it shouldn’t be too complicated.

Cliparti: Make complicated things easy. That is what Internet is about. Right?

Fluppy: Right.
