This has reference to the article published in Log in…Tribune (October 16, 2000). We would like to bring to your attention the gross misrepresentation of facts and figures related to Intel products in this article. Towards this I would like to bring specific points in the article to your attention. 1.) The first paragraph draws a comparison between the pricing of Intel P4P and Intel P3P. Given that the P4P is still to be launched worldwide your inference that this system will be cheaper than P3P processor based system is completely misleading and inaccurate. 2.) Your article also quotes certain price points based on the US prices that you have given. We would like to inform that all these price points quoted by you are not correct and the Indian pricing does not reflect the US cost.

Our Correspondent replies: 1. The comparison is not between the pricing of systems based on P3P and P4P, but merely the pricing of the processors. P3P is currently retailing at US $669 internationally. No doubt the P4P is yet to be launched, but its price has been announced by Intel. The P4P 1.4 GHz will retail at US $652 and P4P 1.5GHz at US $827. The launch of the P4P 1.3 GHz has been withheld due to some glitches. 2.The second point only
reinforces what has been said in the item i.e. that the US $ price of
P3P (1 GHz) is substantially lower than the price at which the product
is being sold to Indian consumers. |
