Students exhibit painting skills
From Our Correspondent

LUDHIANA, Oct 20 — A talent search for students of commercial arts was conducted at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar, here today.

Oil colour, water colour and ink paintings and posters on various themes provided a real feast to the art lovers. Students of classes XI and XII had painted insignia, logos, letter heads, book covers and story illustrations. Portraits of Indira Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose and Vallabhbhai Patel displayed the sketching process of the students.

The paintings spoke volumes of the innovative ideas and imagination of the students. An oil painting made by Maninder with the caption ‘Rest in Solitude’ was admired by all. ‘Free from human bondage’, an oil painting by Kiran, depicted unsaddled horses running away. There were posters on AIDS, adult education and deforestation

Some of the paintings exhibited on the occasion were made by Mr Jaspreet Mohan Singh, lecturer of commercial art at the school. These included few ink paintings and oil paintings.

Mr Jaspreet said that several old students of the school came to see the exhibition which had now become an annual feature.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Ms Prem Walia, a retired principal. Ms Promilla Arora, Principal of the school, appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to work with devotion to perform even better.
