Sun Microsystems Sun Microsystems and Exodus Communications have announced that they are teaming to develop Exodus'[R] next generation storage offering. Exodus intends to join hands with industry leading storage service providers to deliver Sun-based storage utility service. Exodus is one of the world's largest providers of Internet hosting and management services and offers network-managed solutions and professional technology services. National Semiconductor National Semiconductor has announced the market's first single chip base band ICs designed to operate in the two popular ISM band frequencies. The SC14404 (handset) and SC14425 (base-station) are the first of a new family of highly integrated, next generation, single-chip digital cordless telephony baseband processors from national optimised for the US market. The SC14404 is the market's first handset chip offering a programmable RF interface to fulfil the FCC requirements for 900MHz and 2.4GHz cordless voice and data applications, as well as the requirements fo the 1.9GHz DECT standard. The handset base band chip is the first in the market to include flash PROM (320kbyte) and EE function (4kbyte). Other integrated features include two on-chip voltage regulators, DC-DC converter, battery management and direct micro/speaker control. The SC14425 supports different version of CID and supports "hand-free" (in the base station). The integrated CR16 RISC controller handles the software protocols and high end MMI. |
