1. Nesgroups : There
are thousands of newsgroups on the Net covering a multitude of
subjects. These are public discussion groups where people can read
messages posted by others, contribute their own ideas and talk to
like- minded persons..
2. Link: Link is a
highlighted text, which connects hypertext pages. Whenever your mouse
arrow passes over a highlighted text it changes into the shape of hand
that means you have got the link. By clicking the link, it will take
you to another document, web page, or web site.
3. ISDN: Integrated
Services Digital Network is a technology, which enables you to connect
to the Internet over standard phone lines at the speed on which modem
is configured. The technology is older and the connection speed is
lower than those of DSL.
4. LAN: LAN stands
for Local Area Network. It is a network of connected computers that
are generally located near each other or in a local area, such as in
an office or a company.
5. Search engine: As
the name suggests, search engine is used to help people in finding out
the information available on the World Wide Web. You can do the search
by typing words in search box and can find numerous web sites that
contain the information asked for. Always use exact words for getting
appropriate and usable web sites.
6. Multimedia: It is
a combination of different types of information such as audio, video,
text, graphics, and images.
7. Plug-in: A program that works with
browsers to play audio and video.
