Teaching courses for doctors advocated

LUDHIANA, Aug 29 — The second annual continuing medical education programme of the Young Physicians Forum was held here recently. The conference was attended by leading physicians of the city under the chairmanship Dr L. S. Chawla, founder Vice-Chancellor of the Baba Farid University of Medical Sciences.

Dr Chawla stressed the need for regular teaching programme for the doctors in private practice. A policy of re-registration was also planned in which every doctor would be required to have at least 30 hours of conference attendance per year.

Dr R. C. Arora, Consultant Rheumatologist at Apollo Hospital, Delhi, talked about patients with joint pains and other related disorders. He emphasised that there should first be diagnosis of the disease and only then the treatment should be started.

The conference was also attended by Dr Gursharan Singh, president of the Ludhiana district, Indian Medical Association, Dr Karamvir Goyal, president, Young Physicians Forum, Dr H. S. Pruthi, organising secretary of the forum and Dr Vikas Loomba, secretary of the forum.

GMSSS win

LUDHIANA, Aug 29 — Excellent bowling by Anil (3 for 7) and Amrik (2 for 14) helped Government Model Senior Secondary School, PAU, win the intra-zone (Ludhiana Zone-I) cricket match against Government Multipurpose School by 40 runs held here today.

GMS won the toss and decided to field first. GMSSS scored 88 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. GMS were all out for 48 runs in 17.1 overs.
