A FRIEND is the one who makes you laugh. When you feel everything is going wrong. She takes away all your pain When sings to you a happy song. A friend is someone whom you trust. For whom you always eagerly wait. The rest of the world seems a myth. And she is the one who is your faith. You forget your agonies when you are with her. She drives away all your worries. And gives you moments of peace and happiness. In this world of greed and hurry. You want to do a lot for her. And be with her all the time. You wish for her happiness. And say that my friend is only mine. You pray that she always remains with you. And you don’t have to ever part. ‘Coz life without your friend will be dull. As a best friend is so close to the heart. You can sacrifice anything for her. And in your friend you really believe. She is the one for whom you pray. And a sense of gratitude you feel There are so many friends here but. A best friend is more than a friend. About whom you think all the day And the care for her never ends. — Nishima Wangoo Ist year B.Sc, PU. |
FIFTEENTH August is Independence Day, Oh! Isn’t it so lively and gay? On this day we were free, That is why we celebrate it with glee. We pay homage to the patriots who are dead. And to hoist the flag we pull a thread. In 1947, on this day, our flag went up and the British flag went down. The clock struck twelve and we were free. Oh! It must have been a pleasure to see, The happiness in the eyes of every Indian. Had I been there I would have acted like a hooligan. It indeed is a very special day, I am so happy I want to play. Everyone is so happy and gay, Why isn’t every day an Independence Day? — Prerna Sharma Class
VI, Flowers we like FLOWERS we like and hate we thorns, Chaff we dust and keep back corn. Fruit we pluck and leaves we leave, We evaluate a cow by the milk it gives. We never bother where the poor creature lives. A pig likes garbage, a deer green soft grass, A nightingale strikes a sweet note, a crow caws harshly. One can’t change one’s nature, it is true, Snake takes milk, poison it spews. Wise men never find faults with others, They like goodness and see good in all. All creation is His, no matter how big or small. — Sakshi Sharma, MCM College, Chandigarh. |
