Cagers selected for camp

LUDHIANA, Aug 22 — The team for a coaching camp for the 51st Junior National Basketball Championship has been selected. The tournament is to be held at Sarkaghat in Himachal Pardesh from September 9 to 15. Mr Teja Singh Dhaliwal, General Secretary of the Punjab Basketball Association (PBA), announced the names of the selected players in a press note issued here today.

The members of the boys' team are as follows: Lakhvinder Singh, Jasjit Singh, Ravi Kumar, Amit Prashar, Harsimran Singh, Pawandeep Singh, Shamsher Singh, Jasjit Singh, Ajay Kumar, Gurpreet Singh, Prabhjot Singh, Lakhvinder Singh, Amrinder Singh, Mahanta, Arvinder Singh, Ravinderpal Singh, Gurinder Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Sachin Bhanot, Talvinder Singh and Kuldeep Kumar.

The members of the girls' team are as follows: Balwinder Kaur, Vidya Rani, Sandeep Kaur, Varsha, Avneet, Ravneet, Pooja, Mukta, Rekha, Kamaljit Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Kulwinder Kaur, Rajvir Kaur, Gaganpreet Kaur, Manisha, Rubi, Bhanu, Gurminder, Kiranpreet and Baljit.

District badminton meet put off

LUDHIANA, Aug 22 — The Ludhiana District Badminton Championship, which was to be held from August 25 to 28, has been postponed.

Mr R.S. Behal, General Secretary of the Ludhiana District Badminton Association (LDBA), said in a press note issued here today that the meet had been postponed due the death of the mother of Mr Gianinder Singh, local Sports Officer (badminton).

The trials for the Punjab State Junior (under-19) Badminton Championship will be held on August 29 in the local Shastri Hall. The meet is to be held at Sangrur from September 7 to 9.

The interested players should report to Mr Gianinder Singh, Sports Officer (badminton), at 4 pm on August 29.
