Intel

Intel Corp has introduced the Pentium III processor at 1.13 GHz (gigahertz), the world's highest performance microprocessor for PCs. Using BAPCo's SYSmark 2000 benchmark running under Windows 2000, the Pentium III processor delivers a system-level performance of 208 compared to a score of 197 on the Pentium III processor at 1 GHz.

Ingersoll Rand Wadco Tools, a supplier of pneumatic tools as well as other productivity and material handling equipments to the automobile assembly industry, has signed on as a supplier member of sparesindia.com, the country's first neutral B2B portal for automobile spare parts and related equipments for the automobile after market.

IBM

Computer Associates International Inc. have announced the launch of a comprehensive suite of e-business management software for Linux on S/390 as a part of collaborative effort with the IBM to promote Linux on S/390 enterprise server. The CA suite represents the only comprehensive e-business management solution suite for Linux on S/390.

PTC

PTC India has announced plans for interactive surface design technology with interactive capabilities of its CAD/CAM software. The company plans to make this new technology available as a part of PTC's Pro/Engineer suite of integrated MCAD software solutions. The new interactive, feature-based surface design technology will work directly with curves, surfaces and facets, allowing for quick design realisation and modification. With a seamless connection to engineering, ideas can be quickly explored for feasibility.

DSL

Leading digital subscriber line (DSL) equipment and chip manufacturers, systems integrators and service providers have announced the OpenDSL initiative to simplify and expedite DSL installation and make the equipment fully interoperable. OpenDSL will enable service providers to avoid expensive on-site visits by automating customer premise equipment configuration, making it easy for customers to install modems and routers themselves. The OpenDSL initiative aims to gain industry-wide acceptance and standardisation of an open software specification that will automate the configuration of CPE and network elements and to ensure true "plug and play" interoperability between multi-vendor DSL modems and routers.
