Embroidery work of students displayed
From Our Correspondent

LUDHIANA, Aug 12 — An exhibition of craft work done by school students was organised by Coats India Ltd, at DAV Public School and BCM Arya School, Shastri Nagar, here today.

Before the commencement of summer break, students of both the schools were distributed long-stitch kits with colourful cartoons and themes like ‘Happy Birthday’, ‘Merry Times’ and ‘Jolly Ride’ free of cost. The students were told to use their creativity and use any colour combination. Some of the students even used cross-stitch patterns.

The exhibition was divided into two groups, senior and junior. While the junior group comprised students from Classes V to VIII, the senior group had students from Classes IX and X. On the basis of the creativity and neatness, some good creations were selected for prizes.

In DAV Public School, Mallika was declared first, followed by Sangam and Maryada from the junior group. In the senior group, Namrata stood first, Richa was declared second and Prerna third. The results of a similar contest at BCM Arya School will be declared on Monday as the exhibition has been extended in the school.

Mr R.S. Patial, Principal of DAV Public School, appreciated the work done by the students. “The creativity of the students is clearly seen from the efforts of the students. The exhibition also reflects varied tastes of juvenile creators,” remarked Mr Patial.

Mrs Santosh Sharma, craft teacher of the school, said such contests encourage creativity in students. Mr Jatinder Sharma, coordinator, Anchor Educational Service, said the contest would be held at other schools also and the ‘Best Embroidery Student of the Year’ selected.
