500 doctors to attend
healthcare exposition CHANDIGARH Aug 12—The Indian Medical Association, comprising 500 doctors from government institutions and the private sector, will hold an exposition ``Healthcare in the new millennium’’ on September 16 and 17. Professionals from centres in Punjab, Haryana and New Delhi will interact with people and medical professionals of the region. They will talk about facilities at their centres, distribute health education literature, deliver talks on health-related issues besides conducting free check-ups. A seminar on “ISO 9000 certification for hospitals” will also be held. To be attended by medical professionals, it will guide the audience on improving quality services offered by them. A trade exhibition will be put up by pharmaceuticals and equipment manufacturers for benefit of medical professionals. Special sections will be earmarked for financial service providers, insurance providers, information technology providers and ambulance manufacturers. |
Hansraj school lifts badminton

HPS players clinched under 14 boys title, remained runner-up in under 19 girls and two of its boys-Dhruv and Akshit Mahajan— secured first and second position, respectively. Mr S.K Monga, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula, was the chief guest and gave away prizes. He appreciated the fine performance shown by young children who had come from SAS Nagar and Chandigarh to take part in the tournament. Ms Rajni Thareja, principal of HPS, graced the occasion. The under-10 boys final played between Dhruv Sharma and Akshit Mahajan both of HPS was quite absorbing and eight-year-old Akshit a son of another senior badminton player Jatinder Mahajan was a treat to watch. Akshit gave a harrowing time to Dhruv in the first game and few of his drop shots near the net accompanied by cross court half smashes engrossed the packed crowd witnessing at the one court hall. The under-10 girls final was pitted between Pallavi Aggarwal and Mohini Sharma both of Little Flower School, Sector 14, Panchkula. Pallavi who did not face any difficulty in reaching the final proved too good for Mohini and won in straight games. Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16 girls led by national player, Mala Gaba, Parnita and Isha Sharma romped home with under-19 girls title by getting the better of Hansraj School eves at 2-0. DC Model SS School, Sector 7, Panchkula, won under 19-boys final by overpowering DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, Chandigarh at 2-1. Panchayat to
impose octroi from September 11 ZIRAKPUR,
The authorities have also planned to operate all octroi posts itself which were being run by a private contractor earlier. The area, within the limits of the civic body, will be demarcated again for creating wards. He said Rs 35 lakh would be spent on widening the Zirakpur-Dhakauli link road. The octroi will be collected by employees of the municipality till an elected civic body is constituted. |
