Power of imagination

This refers to the article "Power of imagination" by I.M. Soni (July 29,) in which the writer has given the advice that we should not demolish the castles that we build in the air.

Dreams and imagination are the blocks that make up the world. It is the driving force of imagination that marks the beginning of all

the advancement. We endeavour to actually bring about what we imagine. Air travel, space fights and all modern technological wonders took wings initially from the efforts of those who dared to dream. Dreams are the beginning of all progress. May be that is why God has bestowed this gift upon us.

The writer rightly says, "Think twice before smothering any of your ideas. Stick to them even if they look stupid and impracticable." Imagination can be used to bring novelty of experience in life. Its pleasures are endless. Moreover, an earthly pleasure is a temporary thing. Imagination, which is the power of conjuring up visions, can serve us with a cocktail of pleasures. Moreover, it is a matter of common knowledge that the sight of the same thing for a long time makes the thing dull. Familiarity breeds contempt. But a work of art, a product of imagination, is a treasure forever.

Worldly pleasures are short lived but the pleasures of imagination are perennial and permanent. They take a person away from the dull and dreary rut of life. All literature, the world of science, the realm of art, music and philosophy are nothing but the products of imagination. Napoleon aptly remarked "Imagination rules the world". All progress that takes place in the world is totally dependent on ideas or imagination.
