Computerised property documents to be issued from today
Tribune News Service

SAS NAGAR, April 23 — The process of issuing computerised property documents at the subdivision office here will begin tomorrow with the inauguration of the facility by the Commissioner of the Patiala range, Mr D.S.Kalha.

The computerisation has been done as part of the Punjab Government’s plans to reduce the time consumed in preparing the registration documents.

Mr Kalha will inaugurate a similar facility at the Kharar subdivision office. Computerisation of all subdivisional offices in the district was on the agenda of the government. The vehicle registration cell at the Subdivisional level is, however, not being computerised at the moment.

For the convenience of the public, the facility had been installed in a separate hall, located on the ground floor of the SDM’s office in the PUDA complex in Phase 1. An information board about the registration fee for different types of documents had been displayed outside the hall for the convenience of the general public, said the SDM, Mr O.P. Popli.

Explaining the process of computerisation, officials handling the system said that persons involved in the registration of the documents would have to present themselves before the Tehsildar along with their photographs. For checking undervalue registration of the property the land price — urban and rural — as assessed by the revenue officials had been fed in the computer software so that no error could be made. At least one computer with other related equipment had been installed at a cost of over Rs 2 lakh.

Mr Popli said that the tehsildar concerned would sit from 9 a.m to 1 p.m on all working days and the copy of the registered document would be made to the persons concerned on the same day.Back
