The mystery of chemistry

CHEMISTRY is a great mystery;
Exciting and more thrilling even than history;
It is the subject I like;
As it contains equations, formulas and the like;
Radicals and valencies are a treat for the mind;
Acids and bases and the kind,
React vigorously with results which are exciting;
Even though their taste is sharp and biting,
Also important are the states of matter,
Be it steam, ice or water;
Chemical short-hand is fun;
More exciting even than Sachin hitting a ton,
Chemistry doesn’t deal with any grammar or a trade,
It deals with how things are made,
Water consists of hydrogen and oxygen,
Isn’t Chemistry really fun?

Trees, our friends

I like trees,
on which are hives of honey bees.
They give us oxygen, they give us fruits,
and conserve the soil with their roots.
They give us shade,
what a useful thing nature has made!
I sit under a tree, read books and enjoy
and play with my favourite toy.

Silence

Talkative persons say that silence
Is the voice of a graveyard.
For some it is intolerable to observe.
For some to live with it is very hard.
Silence is the basis of concentration,
It fills the vacuum with inspiration.
When there is silence
You can hear everything
Even the breeze
Which blows over a quiet ocean.
Pure silence is needed
When grief is in our minds
To eradicate the illusions
Which are left behind.
Just for two minutes, maintain silence
To understand what I have written
You would learn to
enjoy the hidden treasure.
