BABA Films latest screen blaster is here! Its called Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge and virtually promises the viewers a terrific treat with its funny, frothy (and yet not entirely frivolous) fare under the megaphone of director David Dhawan! Like me, if you havet got it on record, the producer duo of Gordhan Tanwani and Ajay Acharya have made Baba Films a creative and captivating banner to reckon with ... after Ishq and Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha. And, after two superhits in as many years, theyve unleashed DHLJ, slated to be a hat trick in the new millennium. Starring stud Salman Khan and comely Karisma Kapoor in the romantic lead, DHLJ is designed for entertainment with elan. Shot extensively in Mauritius and Switzerland, an added highpoint of the film is the groovy music by solo, debut maker Himesh Reshammiya, recorded magnificently on the multi-track by TIPS. The composer has varied his style of orchestration in most of the numbers to compile a truly terrific film music album. Choreography by Ganesh Acharya and cinematography by Harmeet Singh are highly captivating, arresting add-ons... making Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge a fun-filled film definitely worth a dekho! |
Why fuss over Abhishek? For the life of me, I fail to understand what the fuss over Abhishek is all about, anyway. Folks who swear by his debut picture, Refugee, havent even seen any of it! I mean, even dad Amitabh Bachchan has admitted that he was not allowed to stay on the sets during actual shooting....! And now, suddenly, the media is being (force?) fed the "casting coup" of Abhishek coming together with Sanjay Dutt in producer Ajay Devgans new home production. Everybody is talking about it of course, offering altogether different versions! But why? What can be so great about a newcomer whose first film is yet to be released and his own screen impact yet to be judged? Besides, dont we all remember what happened to Devgans "dream production", Hindustan Ki Kasam, eh? Where is Bangkok? "Our trip was fantastic and we really had a ball!" That happens to be the delighted duo of Sunil Shetty and Salman Khan on their return to Mumbai from a (supposedly?) week long visit to Bangkok. Well, I can understand their ear to ear grins of super satiation if they were frolicking in the waters n sands n, uh... other attractions of Pataya beach, okay? But these two macho men insist that they did nothing more than shoot an ad film for Thums Up! Come, come, do they really expect it to be believed. Besides, in the new ad that Ive seen, both the dukes are there, sitting on top of a train and guffawing away to glory while sipping the advertised soft drink. But where on earth are Bangkok and the sylphish Thai chicks? For all it grabs me, the whole promo film may have been shot near Patiala in the Punjab!!! Sad Sonali... I reckon its hightime Sonali Bendre simply quit trying to get herself noticed. Now, dont get me wrong. I, for one, have been noticing her since Takkar to Hum Saath Saath Hain. Sonali is good-looking, fairly talented... and makes a darn exciting wench on celluloid! No doubts on that score, yeah? Like Sarfarosh? But Im told shes feeling sad and sullen. Just because she finds her gut efforts at getting across to the viewers are going waste. "I deserve (much) more appreciation, surely," she (rightly) believes. And thats where her own thing, shes bound to be not only noticed, but raved about any day now! After all, this is showbiz and, more (un) importantly, this is Bollywood, Ms Bendre! Jackie, a friend indeed It was certainly depressing when actor-filmmaker Mazhar Khan passed away, without being able to see the completion and release of Gang. But the fickle film industry does throw up genuine friends at times, in this case, Jackie Shroff. He has not only used persuasion and personal finance to see the picture through, but has also become one of its (prime) distributors to pay tribute to a friend! Wah! This is the sachchi dosti that one can expect only from a guy like Jackie. |
