Congress men lathicharged
GANDHINAGAR,
Feb 21 Thirtynine Congress workers were arrested
and 150 detained as 19 tear gas shells were burst to
quell them here today during their demonstration against
the Gujarat Governments recent decision of lifting
the ban on employees from participating in the activities
of the RSS.

DSP
facing rape charge suspended
LUDHIANA,
Feb 21 DSP Ashok Puri, who had been accused of
physical assault and rape by a minor was suspended today.
He has, however, applied for bail in the Ludhiana
Sessions Court today and his bail application is likely
to come up for hearing tomorrow.

wheat auctioned
ABOHAR:
The Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation (Punsup) had
recently auctioned 25 lakh bags of non-commercial wheat
which totally unfit for human consumption. This was
alleged in a memorandum submitted by a voluntary
organisation to the Prime Minister and other senior
functionaries of the central and state governments.
