Arrest assaulters of student: council

CHANDIGARH, Jan 10 — The Panjab University Campus Students Council has demanded action to ensure arrest of the assaulters of a university student on January 1.

Mr Dayal Pratap Singh Randhawa, President of the council, said,"Due to the attack, Harmeet Singh had lost his right eye irreparably."

Dr V. K. Bansal, Dean Student Welfare, also condemned the incident. He said that the police should capture the assaulters. He even pointed out the need for improvement of university security staff.

Play by FCI employees

CHANDIGARH, Jan 10 — Employees of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Haryana Region, organised a cultural programme at Tagore Theatre here yesterday.

Songs by folk singer Karnail Singh, play Heer Ranjha and children's items were the highlights of the programme.

Mr R.K. Gupta, Executive Director (Vigilance), New Delhi, who was the chief guest, awarded mementoes to the artistes.
