Power failure affects North India
NEW DELHI, Jan 6 — Several states in North India were severely affected as the power supply from Mandoli and Dadri grids in Uttar Pradesh tripped, affecting supply to the Northern Grid. The power failure affected even the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House, Prime Minister’s residence and adjoining areas.

Hijackers’ aides arrested
NEW DELHI, Jan 6 — A week after the end of the hijack drama, the government today emphasised that the five hijackers were from Pakistan and the diabolic ISI plan was executed with the assistance of the Harkat-ul-Ansar.

All freed militants entered Pak: Azhar
KARACHI, Jan 6 — All three militants freed by India to end the hijacking drama of the Indian Airlines plane crossed into Pakistan from Afghanistan, and the five hijackers were last seen on the road from Kandahar heading towards this country, one of the freed militants, said here today.

Service chiefs for role in CMG
NEW DELHI, Jan 6 — The Chief of Army Staff, Gen V.P. Malik today said that the planning for all future contingencies should be done with the involvement of all three services.
